As negotiating teams meet in London for the eighth round of trade talks, Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick said that leaving on Australia-style terms would be a "good arrangement" for the UK. He also defended the Government's plans to override areas of the Withdrawal Agreement, saying that ministers were taking “necessary precautions” to protect the Good Friday Agreement. Meanwhile, Boris Johnson will tell EU leaders today that the Brexit divorce deal is "contradictory" and must be rewritten to protect the Union. Michel Barnier, the EU's chief Brexit negotiator, arrives in London on Tuesday morning for the latest round of formal trade talks after Mr Johnson said he "will not back down" over his plan to change the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement through legislation being tabled on Wednesday. His UK counterpart Lord Frost last night warned that the two sides "can no longer afford to go over well-trodden ground" in the deadlocked talks . Read more below.
